At the beginning of the last century,
Albert Einstein discovered that energy is the source of
everything. E = MC2 has been rightly branded as one of the most
important equations we know. Everything we know needs energy;
cars need gasoline, light bulbs need electricity, and people
need food. Producing energy comes down to the smaller parts of
any living body in which mitochondria are the power plants that
produce energy within each cell. If these mitochondrial power
plants run into problem or deteriorate as part of normal aging
they can slow the body down or even bring the body to a halt. It
is therefore not surprising that hundreds of diseases are
associated with defective mitochondria in the cell. Indeed
defects in mitochondria can give rise to any symptom, at any age
and in any organ. |
